"Passengers", a Hollywood Romantic Drama produced by DreamWorks, was released in the United States on 18th of December 2015. The movie ran over 100 minutes long and had an approximate budget of $127 million. The story takes place on the spaceship Avalon, which is carrying 5,000 passengers to a new planet. A malfunction leads to all life support systems failing so that everyone has to live in hibernation pods. With no way for anyone else to wake them up, the hibernation pods are designed with self-destruct mechanisms that will kill people when they are resuscitated in order to prevent any bad interactions between them when they wake up. Over the course of the journey, however, a romance develops between one pair of awake passengers: Jim Preston and Aurora Lane. Throughout the day and night before the "Avalon" is to enter orbit and dock with its destination planet, their romance grows and they eventually come to love each other. When the accident happens, Jim and Aurora are separated in hibernation pods. Jim wakes up in an emergency pod while Aurora dies when hers explodes. Based on what she has heard from other passengers who were in her pod when it exploded, she makes it out of hibernation alive but suffers from amnesia. Meanwhile, Jim wakes up in the emergency pod that he had been placed in after being revived. Unable to find any of the passengers who were in his pod with him, Jim decides to awaken them all one-by-one so that they can all start their lives together on the new planet. Aurora does not appear to have any recollection of her previous life, so she is also set loose among the passengers to begin her recovery from amnesia. As time passes, Aurora realizes that she is no longer alone on the spaceship. She starts meeting people and having relationships with them as well as linking up with Jim and other couples she has made contact with along the way. Although she is enjoying her new life, she has a feeling that there was once something more to her previous life. In the end, it is revealed that Jim had been awakened from his hibernation pod before the others and started reviving them one-by-one. Although he wanted to wake Aurora up as well, he ultimately chose not to tell her who he was and where they were going because he knew that doing so would bring back memories of how they died and make their relationship very difficult. In the end, Aurora decides to remain on the spaceship rather than going with Jim to start a new life on a new planet. Instead, she stays with Jim to help him revive the other hibernated passengers. It is revealed that Aurora finally awoke when Jim asks her to help revive another passenger. Having remembered who Jim was, the other passengers are able to wake up and start their new lives together. The movie was well received by critics for its cinematography, soundtrack and emotional appeal. Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes reports a 95% approval rating based on 170 reviews, with an average score of 6/10. The site's consensus reads "Passengers offers both merit and flaws, yet it's impossible to fault its stunning visuals.
